Agility
Agility involves the dog quickly and accurately following his handler’s directions and running a sequence of obstacles such as jumps, tunnels, weaving poles and more!
If you would like to join Agility, your dog will need to have passed Basic 2 Obedience and be between 12 months and 10 years of age. Handlers need to have good control over their dogs as your dog will be working off lead most of the time.
As with all training, you will need to practice at home; at least two 5 minutes sessions per day on most days and preferably a little more than that. You need to treat it as a game and make sure that both you and your dog are having fun. Dogs learn best when they are enjoying themselves.
If you are interested in joining an agility class, your dog must have passed Basic 2 Obedience and be between 12 months and 10 years of age.
If you already have done some obedience or agility elsewhere you can ask for an assessment when you join the club. The assessor will tell you if you can go straight into agility or if you need to complete some more obedience training first. When you have passed Basic 2 or received clearance from an assessor you can put your name down on the list on the table in the hall.
